05 March 2020
Program: Community Action Partnership of Northeast MO;
Natalie Moore

Thanks to Natalie, who was just visiting and volunteered to be our program when the one we had scheduled fell through at the last minute. Natalie is a recent graduate of Truman, and just started in her role as the Housing Coordinator for the Community Action Partnership. She works on a homelessness prevention program in a five county area. The goal of the program is to have rental assistance for community members who are struggling financially. The program received a $100,000 grant to assist community members and over 95% of that will go directly to those in need, with less than 5% going to administrative costs. Natalie said the need in Kirksville for this type of assistance is great. 26% of Adair County is below the national poverty line – which is the 2nd highest poverty level in the state.
