Rotary Club of Kirksville - Thousand Hills
January 17, 2019
Program: Doug Nichting;
Family Heritage Insurance

Doug worked at Walmart for 34 years--19 of which was here at the Kirksville store.  He retired as manager in 2018 and took on a new calling as a Family Heritage Insurance agent. He specializes in a supplemental insurance for cancer, as he has a personal connection with that disease. His wife had a brain tumor four years ago but is cancer free now.  When this reality hit he knew that he wanted to do something that might make a difference in the lives of other families that are stricken with the disease. He asked members of our club to raise their hands if they had in any way been affected by the disease and nearly every hand went up. Doug said that 3 of every 4 families in the US are affected by the disease. Annually the US spends $226billion on treating and fighting cancer. Doug began his new career and calling in November 2018, and is happy to answer any questions anyone has about insurance in general, and the cancer supplement in particular. Doug is pictured below with Elsie and Bertha Thomas (right).

Bertha came to our meeting to tell us about the upcoming community celebration, honoring the life of Dr. of Martin Luther King.  See the flyer below for the list of activities for this event .
