Steve explained that pharmacy goes back centuries, with compounding and mixing of medicines, chemicals, etc. During the Industrial Revolution pharmacists began developing pills and compounds to make the process easier and more streamlined. However, medicines also became "one size fits all".
Med Depot has a lab where Steve compounds medicines for individuals to meet their specific needs. He explained the development of bio-identical hormones for both men and women, which are his most popular compound.
Steve also compounds topical pain relief creams, which include a dosage of applicator, lip balms, and lollipop meds. He said that for most pharmacists compounding is second line treatment but he feels it should be considered first line because of its effectiveness.
