Karla Dwyer and the Reverse Raffle Committee members talked to the club about our upcoming event. The Reverse Raffle is our club's only fundraiser and it requires all members of our club to be heavily involved in the planning and execution to make it a success. Club member Pat Murdock brought this idea to the club and we have been doing the Reverse Raffle each year since 2013. It has become a very popular event in the community. Last year we raised over $20,000 which allows us to give charitable donations to projects and organizations in the community, Nation, and world throughout the year. Each ticket to the event costs $100. For the price of admission you get two people into the event with a meal catered by Coltons, the opportunity to participate in the wine grab, and the opportunity to bid on numerous silent and live auction items. There will 180 tickets sold this year. Each ticket matches the number of a ball thrown into a BINGO hopper and as the numbered ball is drawn out of the hopper, the ticket holder is out of the running for the grand prize of $3,300. However, for every ten balls drawn, there will be a drawing for one of those ten ticket holders to earn their $100 entry fee back. The last ball in the hopper wins the grand prize, the second to last ball wins a $500 consolation prize. There is also a $500 prize for the first ball drawn from the hopper. So a $100 ticket gets two meals, opportunities to bid on really cool stuff, the opportunity to get your money back, or turn it into $500 or $3,300. Start thinking about what you want to do to help on the night of the event, buying wine to donate, and talking with committee members on how you can assist with silent auction items. Tickets will be available next week from Wayne B. Thanks to our Reverse Raffle Committee members for all the hard work they put in ALL YEAR to make this event such a tremendous success.
