Rotary Club of Kirksville
23 MAY 2019
Program: Adair Co. Public Library;
Cory Landon

Cory Landon is the children’s librarian. He spoke to the club about lots of new initiatives at the library, including a "Clean up your fines" program, where you can donate toiletry items to cancel out fines for overdue library books. With this initiative there will be more fines associated with late youth materials. it will mean that a single person can only check out 15 items at a time, rather than the 50 that were allowed in the past.  He said that this summer the library will be offering ukulele lessons.  Tim Caison will lead lessons. First lesson is 04JUN at 6PM. The summer reading program starts on 01JUN and there are some interesting changes to the program this year.  The program is for children ages birth to 18, but their is an adult component to it as well.  This year the library received a grant from state so the program can run through the entire summer – it used to be one month only. he also gave an update on the Maker’s space – which was an effort that our club contributed to a couple years ago.  This year they have added some new robots to the space.  Stop by the library and see all the innovative things that are going on there this summer.  there is something for everyone.
