This week at Rotary, Kevin Powell from the Missouri Department of Conservation came to speak on Conservation. He spoke on the invasive weeds on lakes at this time of the year, the new K9 teams for the conversation department, and all day Turkey hunting this year!

Breanne Hunt, executive director of Lifeline in Kirksville, was the featured speaker at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Kirksville-Thousand Hills. Lifeline's purpose is to help individuals who find themselves facing unexpected pregnancies. The organization provides support, encouragement, referrals to other providers, educations, and supplies for expectant parents and babies. All services are provided free of charge. Lifeline is community supported, and is a Christ-centered ministry. The organization also provides educational programs in over 50 area schools. This week at Rotary, two cast members in the KHS Theatre, performed an act from their upcoming musical, Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Reese Williams and Carson Kelly did a great job, and our members are excited for the whole musical.

Dan Martin, who is on the Forest Lake Area Trail System (FLATS) board, spoke at the Thousand Hills Rotary club last week. Dan explained that FLATS was very excited to be adding a pavilion to the FLATS Theta-Psi trailhead.

Stephanie Mills came to the Thousand Hills Rotary Club this morning to speak about the non-profit Fairy Godmother. Fairy Godmother provides prom dresses for high school girls in foster care, who otherwise wouldn't be able to go. Not only do they provide dresses, but the non-profit assists these girls with all the essentials needed for prom and provides an ambassador for life.
The United Way of Northeast Missouri drive chair, Amanda Selby spoke this last week to the Thousand Hills Rotary Club.
Amanda presented on the impact that the United Way has on the committee around us, and how she has personally been impacted by the organization.

The $1,000 donation was made possible by the Reverse Raffle, the club's annual fundraiser.
Jason Munn officially became a member of the Thousand Hills Rotary Club on August 21st. The picture above is Jason in the middle, Zach Springer, to the left, was his sponsor, and Ernie Loft to the right is the club president. The club is excited for the new and unique ideas that Jason brings.

What an exciting time to be a member of a Rotary Club! We are part of an international organization that bridges cultures and connects people and projects all over the world. We work toward peace, promote literacy, fight poverty and disease, help people access clean water and sanitation, and work to protect our planet and its resources.
As Rotary Club members, we work together to tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems. By joining our efforts and resources with other individuals, Rotary Clubs, Rotary International, and The Rotary Foundation, we share responsibility and have a much greater impact than any of us can do as individuals.
Rotary also provides members with opportunities for networking and fellowship. Club meetings, social events, Rotary sponsored trips, and training seminars allow members to form friendships that can last a lifetime. There are even opportunities to make friends around the district, the USA, and the world.
Join us for service, fellowship, friendship, and fun!
